At Summa Financial Technology, we are committed to building next generation financial solutions for the investment management industry. To that end we have built a cloud native securities processing and portfolio reporting platform to enable digital transformation and a full array of reporting services for our clients.
We are seeking a Software Engineering intern with a passion for programming. You will gain professional experience developing software at a cutting edge cloud company. Our senior engineers enjoy mentoring junior developers seeking to learn new skills.
We will provide structure, definition of goals, process, relationships, community, and a breadth of mentoring experiences to give students the best chance to succeed at their projects. Our mentors range from recent graduates of boot camps, to CS PhDs with several years of teaching experience.
What you'll be doing:
Developing software for our commercial or open-source database projects
Pair with teammates to deliver well structured production code with automated tests
Regularly participate in code reviews and design discussions
Pairing with teammates and participating in site reliability infrastructure and operations tasks
What we look for in you:
In progress or recently completed Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, related technical field, or participation in a relevant coding bootcamp.
Working towards a BS, MS, or PhD degree in Engineering, Computer Science or an equivalent area.
A cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
Experience programming in a modern programming language such as Javascript/React, Java, Python, Go, C , or C#
Knowledge of cloud and cloud-adjacent infrastructure and operation functions (e.g., cloud computing concepts, Terraform, CI/CD)
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Technical curiosity and a strong desire to learn and improve
Experience working on a team doing branch based development using revision control software like git.

Personal projects or contributions to open source projects
Involvement in a technology group like the Society of Software Engineers or a Coding Club
Contributions to any open source project
Prior experience and/or Interest in working with Go
Experience with Elixir or React.
Working knowledge of Git (and GitHub)
Comfortable navigating Unix/Linux systems via terminal
Previous experience using Kubernetes or containerized technologies
It's not expected that you'll have deep expertise in every dimension above, but you should be interested in learning any of the areas that are less familiar to you.
